THE 1ST CKUSA CONTEST

...and welcome to it.  Whether or not this will be an annual event depends on how many entries we receive for the 2005 contest.

In any event, here's a chance to win a great Connie Kaldor prize package.  The winner will receive their choice of two out of these three albums:

sealed, mint CD of Vinyl Songbook

sealed, mint CD of Love Is A Truck

near mint, original vinyl record of One Of These Days

The runner-up will receive the remaining album.

Here's how the contest works:  Below are six somewhat cryptic sentences that refer to six Connie Kaldor songs.  Each sentence is a clue in itself to the song's title.

HOWEVER, if you look closely, hidden inside each sentence is another clue that will give you the definitive answer.  The nature of this extra clue is consistent throughout the puzzle.

    Here's how the scoring works:

10 points for each correct answer for clues 1 - 3

15 points for each correct answer for clues 4 - 6

25 points for correctly identifying the nature of the hidden clues -- if you decipher this, you'll most likely get all the song titles for a perfect score of 100.

Okay, ready?  Here are the six clues:

1.  These untruths are MOST FOUL.  I arrest you for perjury of the heart.

2.  For the wonderful piano intro to this seasonal song, may we use the Baldwin?  Terrific!

3.  I'd love a good tummy rub, Elly, but tonight I'm going to see Heather Bishop.

4.  Has Philadelphia 76er Iverson gone to the Schuylkill to see how freely it flows?

5.  Should we create a new army?  Our selfishness gets in the way.  Let's sit by the hearth and discuss this.

6.  The couple was brazen in their intentions while asking for directions: "Do you know where we can pitch some woo?"  "Drive 'round Route 58 and look for the natural cover down by the water," I replied with some sense of loneliness.

HINT 1:  You may have to ignore punctuation.

HINT 2:  If you don't know all of Connie's songs, there's a page on this site that can greatly assist you.

Send the six song titles (numbered 1 - 6) and the common hidden bond that the sentences contain to:

wbmstrckusa@aol.com

The deadline for entries is September 30, 2005.  Even if you're not sure of the extra clue, send what you've got -- the points may be enough!

In the event of a tie, the winner and/or runner-up will be chosen randomly.

Only one entry per email address.  Employees of CKUSA (namely, me) and Coyote Entertainment are ineligible.  Anyone who saw the similar puzzle I did for PB's 3C site (you know who you are) are also, unfortunately, ineligible.

   Good luck to all!
