SASKATCHEWAN SLIDESHOW

In August of 2002 I visited Saskatchewan for the first time.  All agricultural problems and concerns aside, it is quite a beautiful place.  The population of the entire province is roughly 1/5th of New York City, yet you could fit the entire state of New York inside (just like the sign says...)  No traffic jams here -- just Saskatoon Berry jam!  And if there is a crowd, it's probably the farmer's market or a summer festival.  One gets to really appreciate how spaced out everything is in Saskatchewan when one has to drive between two points -- and drive, and drive...

Anyway, I put together a little slide show with original pictures that I hope you will enjoy.  Accompanying the presentation are Connie's "Bigger Than Anywhere Else" and "Harsh And Unforgiving" -- representing the two faces of Saskatchewan I saw that summer.

You'll also find links to vacation and general interest sites.  Okay, granted, when planning a trip, Biggar and Climax aren't the first things that come to mind (or are they?)  But if you're REALLY looking to get away from the crowds and stress of your town, Saskatchewan is the place to go.  Besides, the people (when you do find them) are awfully friendly and have a great sense of humor -- as Connie says, if you come from a land where the national animal is the beaver, you have to have a sense of humor...
